This exceptional and little-known work on paper by František Kupka serves as an important link between the Cubist and Orphist movements. In 1910, before the outbreak of World War I, František Kupka, together with Robert and Sonia Delaunay, began to focus on the deconstruction of color associations. Compositionally, he leaned toward biomorphic forms, yet the works retained a bright color palette in the spirit of Orphism. The work is accompanied by an appraisal by Pierre Brullé and a certificate of authenticity from Gilden’s Art Gallery, including information on previous sales and provenance.
