Léon Richet studied at the Academy in Valenciennes and later in Paris. Beginning in 1869, he exhibited in Paris at the Salon and later at the Salon des Artistes Français. In 1885, he received an honorable mention, and in 1888, a second-class medal. Léon Richet is among the landscape painters who drew inspiration from the Barbizon masters.
