Gustav Macoun was one of the painters whose desire to paint showed itself from early childhood. After completing elementary education, he studied with Alois Kalvoda and Antonín Slavíček. The landscape with the silhouette of Trosky Castle belongs to the period after completing these courses. He followed Antonín Slavíček all his life and painted landscapes with a touch of impressionism.
