From the expert assessment by PhDr. Šárka Leubnerová: "The moon over the lake is one of Adolf Chwala's masterful nocturnes. The magical light of the moon connects the landscape into one whole and enhances its impressive mood. The processed detail, brilliant color and emotional expression of the natural mood, Chwala achieved a strong artistic effect in this work." Chwala's nocturnes were received at exhibitions with great anticipation. He was rightly considered a specialist in this depiction of the landscape, and as a rule, these paintings quickly found their buyers.
