Helena Emingerová was an illustrator, graphic designer and painter. She focused more on pastels and etchings, and oil paintings appear on the market rather rarely. She was mainly involved in figure and portrait work and was one of the founders of Czech modern graphics. She was friends with František Bílek and Zdenka Braunerová and often went to see them in Paris. The painting comes from the artist's estate.
