Ivo Medek Kopaninský’s work spans a wide range of media, including collages, paintings, drawings, assemblages, sculptures, stamp art, and various other mixed media techniques, all aimed at creating an artistic impression often infused with a healthy dose of irony and humor. He frequently combines wordplay with artistic shorthand, and together these elements create the comic aspects of his works. Ivo Medek Kopaninský did not exhibit his works in his homeland for twenty years (1968–1988), as their themes largely contradicted the prevailing communist ideology of the time.
