Josef Písecký (1878 - 1954) DALMATIAN LANDSCAPE

Josef Písecký is known to the public as a landscape painter who focused primarily on seascapes. During his stay in Dubrovnik, he created many beautiful works capturing the local landscape. The more intimate composition reveals the artist’s personal connection to the Dalmatian landscape; the descriptive style of the larger works is replaced here by fluid, impressionistic brushstrokes that emphasize the intense Mediterranean sun and an emotional intensity.
