From 1892 to 1898, Alois Kalvoda studied at the Academy under Professor Julius Mařák and became one of the leading figures of a strong and well-known generation of landscape painters at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Alois Kalvoda’s landscapes break away from academic conventions, employing a freer style and a refined, delicate color palette. Kalvoda’s landscapes masterfully combine pastel and bright tones, creating an evocative atmosphere of daylight.
