Stanislav Sucharda (1866 - 1916) (zugeschrieben) MONARCH OF THE WOODS

The exceptional relief depicting the Spirit of the Forest, with a solemn expression and holding a staff, is the work of the prominent Czech sculptor Stanislav Sucharda; it is a synthesis of the artist’s lyrical sensibility and Art Nouveau composition. In addition to large monuments (such as the František Palacký Monument in Prague), he also focused on smaller works and reliefs. In 1915, Sucharda became the first professor of the medal-making school at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. Mounted in its original frame made of black-stained wood.
