CHINESE BRONZE JARDINIÈRE WITH QILIN

A massive cast-bronze jardinière of octagonal form with concave sides. Each side is decorated with a rectangular panel depicting a qilin in high relief against a geometric background, complemented by stylised clouds. A band of foliate ornament runs below the upper rim, while the rim itself is decorated with a geometric meander pattern. Very good condition; the body retains mounting holes for the original handles and feet, which are now missing. China, Qing dynasty.
