NKISI NKONDI FIGURE

A carved wooden nkisi nkondi figure with numerous metal nails and other elements driven into the torso, fibre bindings and preserved organic materials. The figure holds a long wooden object, possibly a spear. Central Africa, Congo region, Kongo people, probably 20th century.
