František Srp (1895 - 1943) ON THE RIVERBANK

František Srp, a painter and graphic artist who specialized in landscapes, figure painting, and portraiture, studied at the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design (UMPRUM) in Prague from 1914 to 1916 under Prof. E. Dítě and F. Kysela. He continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts (AVU) in Prague under Prof. M. Pirner, from which he graduated in 1919. From 1924 onward, he served as a professor at the secondary school in Bučovice. He was a member of the SVU in Brno and the Moravian Aleš branch of the SVU. František Srp created several versions of “Bathing,” ranging from vividly colorful and sensual compositions to calmer, more balanced poetic visions.
