The work of Jaroslav Hebst, first presented publicly in an exhibition in 1934, aroused an unexpected response and a favourable critical response. Feigl organised another exhibition of Herbst's work in 1937, after which the painter again fell into obscurity. It was not until 1995 that he was commemorated with an exhibition at the Ztichlá klika Gallery in Prague and an article with a series of reproductions in the Revolver revue magazine of the same year. The still-lifes are characterised by strong colour contrasts and folkloric themes, and the works gradually crystallise towards expressionism.
