Kirnig was one of the youngest students of the Munich painter and professor at the Prague Academy Max Haushofer. In the spirit of his teacher, he opened a landscape school in Prague in 1866. Kirnig's landscapes testify to the painter's considerable skill in terms of composition, color and painterly handwriting.
