Augustin Satra (1877 - 1909) EARLY EVENING BY THE RIVER

Augustin Satra is one of the lesser-known students of Mařák’s school of landscape painting, and his works are rarely found on the market. He excelled at depicting nature interwoven with rivers and landscapes bathed in light. The color palette of his paintings is bold and authentically evokes the mood of nature’s transformations. Satra’s landscapes reveal Mařák’s influence and a delicate sensitivity to nature; Satra quickly developed a confident style in plein air painting, and his works are of a very high artistic standard.
