TWO HISTORICISM CANDLESTICKS

The first artistic foundry was established in 1869 by Václav Mašek in Karlín; he had previously spent several years abroad, where he gained experience in bronze casting and the subsequent patination of sculptural works. The company soon became one of the leading foundries in Prague, of which there were seven. At that time, many monuments were being created, both in public spaces—on streets and squares—as well as in cemeteries, and sculptures also found their way into homes on a smaller scale. The offered pair of candlesticks, of exceptional craftsmanship, are adorned with cloisonné work and inlaid semi-precious stones.
