The paintings and drawings of Andrej Bělocvětov, a member of the Máj 57 art association, have their own very distinctive characteristics. They are primarily marked by linearity, the strength of form and contour, and numerous experiments with abstracting form. The artist’s work is characterized by a broad scope, reflecting a range of artistic influences over time. In this small painting, the influences of Expressionism are clearly discernible; similar still lifes from the 1960s and 1970s have already appeared on the market. Andrej Bělocvětov belonged to the close circle of photographer Josef Sudek. His first solo exhibition took place at the Gallery of the Young in Prague in 1958. On the reverse, an estate stamp with the approval of the heirs.
