Vincenc Beneš (1883 - 1979) PETRIFIED CASTLE NEAR SVRATKA RIVER

The landscape of the Ždárské vrchy hills, including the natural monument, as captured by Vincenc Beneš, is strongly influenced by French modern painting. He was initially strongly influenced by Cubism, which he gradually began to reinterpret, incorporating the forms and color palette of modern painting into his works. Vincenc Beneš was a member of Osma and shared a studio with Bohumil Kubišta. Together with Otakar Nejedlý, he founded a private painting school.
