This workshop portrait of Madame Sophie de France is based on an oil painting by Jean-Marc Nattier, a celebrated French miniature painter. The princess is portrayed in a pink floral dress against a blue background with bushes. The miniature is set in a richly decorated gilded bronze frame with putti figures at the top. A tabletop stand is on the reverse with the inscription: "Wandemberg 42 rue N St. Augustin."
