Bronze. Marked below on plinth: “F. ŠTOREK, ODL. 4” (cast 4). Štorek's first figurative sculptures after 1967 are torsos, but with a creative approach. He first created sculptures in wax and cast them himself in bronze using the lost wax method. The foundations for his metalworking skills came from his family's metalsmithing workshop. He got further training at the Lauda studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, the influence of New Figuration and the watershed year 1964, when he participated in the Sculpture exhibition at the Regional Art Gallery in Liberec and he met Jaroslava Pešicová in the Etapa art group. From the second half of the 1960s, he gained valuable experience during his travels to Greece and Paris, where his intense perception of ancient sculpture oriented him towards figures: ancient trunks and the effect of time became an aesthetic category of its own.
