Ivo Medek Kopaninský's work represents a wide scope, including collages, paintings, drawings, assemblages, sculptures, stamp-art and various other combined techniques to achieve an artistic impression, often imbued with a good dose of irony and humor. Kopaninský's diary records of Cinderella represent a record of her days through small fragments of her activities hidden in nuts. These objects have a rather symbolic relationship to the traditional concept of the fairy tale about Cinderella, the activities are numbered and described on the back, and only by their grouping does a slightly absurd and humorous diary be created. Ivo Medek Kopaninský, with a focus mostly thematically opposed to the then ruling communist ideology, did not exhibit in his homeland for twenty years (1968–1988). He was persecuted by the state secret police for smuggling them into democratic countries and exposing them there. Today he is the winner of several prestigious awards, such as the Masaryk Academy of Arts Award.
