The very rare blue and white cubist box without a lid made by Graniton, Rydl and Thon was designed by the prominent Czech designer and architect Vlastislav Hofman. The irregular box with two more flattened edges fits in with the cubist rhetoric of seeking perfect form in crystalline form, which was probably most developed in ceramic work by Hofman's colleague Pavel Janák. While the first Group of Artists exhibition featured crystalline walls, the second included a ceiling. The box is illustrated amongst tender photographs by Graniton, Rydl and Thon. Marked on the underside with the Artel mark and serial number 5102.
