The motif of the crucified Christ is reminiscent, in its typical facial features, of some of the works by Michael Leopold Willmann, an early Baroque painter who worked in Bohemia and Silesia. He was born in Královec and could not afford to attend a prestigious art school, so he studied in his hometown, where he passed his exam. Unable to make a name for himself in the capital, he left for Silesia. He painted allegorical scenes, biblical subjects, and portraits.
