Josef Istler was a prominent Czech representative of abstract art and Informel. A painter and printmaker, and a member of the Ra group, he experimented with the interplay of organic and inorganic forms. The reverse of the sheet bears the handwritten notes regarding exhibitions: Kabinet g.u V/1946, cat. no. 14, and Topič XII/1946, cat. no. 65.
