Jan Zrzavý had a significant impact on the development of our modern culture through his authentic creative imagination, in which he linked the Czech tradition of spiritual lyricism with European modernism. In Zrzavý’s imagination, the colorful hulls of silent boats became peculiar beings—messengers of human dreams that inhabit a landscape of static objects and boulders. The drawing was originally owned by Father František Srubek from Chelčice.
