The themes of the circus ring, the circus, and vaudeville constitute an important and substantial part of the artist’s distinctive body of work, which also subtly permeates the prints on offer. František Tichý shunned artistic realism; he was bold and spirited, and he loved the themes of acrobats, the circus ring, and performers. Yet he infused his art with an equal measure of subtlety and sensitivity.
