ICON OF MARY THE HOLIEST

Mary with Jesus in the traditional elaboration of the Orthodox tradition following the style of Byzantine frescoes, the scene "Theokotos panagia", or Mary - the holiest. In this form, Mary is depicted with a medallion on the chest with a portrait of the Son of God, or she holds him in her arms on her chest. The icon is a reminder of Mary's privileged position in the Church as the mother of the Son of God.
