This unique piece of purely Cubist furniture, an item that appears on the market only rarely, shows signs of architect Josef Chochol's style. Chochol's exceptional Cubist architecture is "pieced together" from individual segments. He takes a similar approach to furniture, but with the difference that each piece is understood as a separate segment. He has a strong sense for space and depth, and his furniture design respects Cubist tectonics, Cubist structure. It can be presumed that the cabinet, which originally had a top section, could have come from the interior of one of the Cubist houses the architect designed in 1911-14. Soft wood, veneer, dark stained oak, inside red stained mahogany, original brass mounts, original condition.
