This impressive life-size work is an outstanding work by Olbram Zoubek, one of the most important Czech sculptors of the second half of the 20th century. After graduating from the Academy of Arts and Crafts in Josef Wagner's studio, the artist resorted to restoring historical sculptures and sgraffiti, mainly because he was inconvenient for the regime as an artist and could not exhibit officially. He created the bust (also bust) of Mary by "cutting" the figure, resulting in the separate works Legs and Body of Mary. The model here was Zoubek's second wife, Marie. His works have a special dimension of existence. They communicate with us in an abstract space with slightly staged and at the same time immediate gestures. Zoubek's recognizable handwriting was inspired not only by ancient models, but also by the sculptures of the famous Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti and female beauty. The work comes from a prestigious collection in Prague. Assessed during consultations and authorship confirmed by PhDr. P. Bregantová. Certificate of authenticity.
