Jiří David is a Czech painter, intermedia artist and teacher. Since the 1980s, when he became an important representative of the Hardheads group with a postmodern artistic programme, he has been pointing to the sentiment of national identity, and in his photographic series Hidden Forms (1991-1995) he manipulated photographic portraits of well-known personalities. His best known work in the media is the neon heart above Prague Castle from the end of the last term of President Václav Havel. A distinctive element in his work is social engagement, in which the artist exposes his own, as well as our common reality and identity in a provocative and critical way. The offered sculptural work uses the technique of 3D lenticular printing, which creates the illusion of depth. Underneath one butterfly is a shining hole. Exhibited at the Václav Špála Gallery 22.5.- 22.6.2014 - exhibition Jiří David, Andy Hope 1930 Florian Meisenberg
