The astronomical atlas of Ignace - Gaston Pardies, a French Catholic priest and versatile scientist, Newton's opponent, was first published in Paris in 1674 in engravings by G. Vallett. Here in the complete edition of Johann Christoph Weigel of Nuremberg (1661-1726), which contains 2 two-page text sheets in frames and 6 two-sheet maps numbered 1 - 6 at the bottom on a sheet of 37.5 x 46 cm paper. In this variant of the map without text along the edges. Maps No. 1, 2 and 4 cropped at the left edge to the outer frame, the images remain undisturbed. An extremely rare and decorative copper engraving atlas of the starry sky stands out with suggestive depictions of the signs of the zodiac. Rich and high-quality map prints with wide edges. Paper at the edges outside the image in places with traces of use. No binding.
