Jan Vyleťal, the twin of the well-known imaginatively focused painter and poster maker Josef, went through a number of technically oriented jobs and began to deal with painting at an advanced age. He did not paint systematically until he was 65 and finished his work five years later for health reasons. In a relatively short time, however, he created a very balanced and remarkable work of almost two hundred paintings, which, according to Jiří Valoch, a leading expert in geometric art, are unparalleled in both domestic and world art due to their originality in the field of geometric abstraction. The work Gravitational Lens focuses on an interesting issue of the refraction of light in the gravitational field, which was predicted by Albert Einstein's general theory of relativity. In his works, Jan Vyleťal often dealt with the topics of biochemistry, natural phenomena and astrophysics.
