Miloš Jiránek has an important and irreplaceable place in the development current of Czech modern painting. He studied at the Academy with Maximilian Pirner and Vojtěch Hynais, and an important part of his knowledge was numerous trips abroad, especially to France. Despite his death at a very young age, he managed to co-found SVU Mánes, lead the magazine Volné směry ("Free Directions"), and co-organized the major exhibitions Family (1902) and Munch (1905).
