Ota Janeček's works are among the items still sought after at auctions. The painting A Boy in a Beret and with a Huge Perch belonged to the author's personal property. It is probable that the author had a certain personal affection for him, because it was a permanent part of his family background. It is a very mature and relatively large canvas, which is a typical example of the author's work in the late fifties and early sixties. During this period, he focused his attention on the decomposition of the area and the internal structure, as if he were remotely returning to the principles of cubism with which he experimented in the 1940s. This time, however, the shapes are converted only into areas that are color-structured. Works from this period are very rare on the art market.
