František Šimon Tavík was among Max Pirner's students and was among the most important graphic artists, painters, wood engravers and later taught at AVU. He was a member of SVU Mánes and a co-founder of the Hollar association. In his painterly style, a documentary style can be seen, which he used prominently in many valuable contemporary records of Prague - especially in masterful etchings and mezzotints. In his time, he was considered a rather conservative artist, but he is appreciated for the faithfulness of the depiction of the atmosphere and the carefully constructed architecture of the place, with which the observer can easily identify.
