He was born in the Crimea in Feodosia and spent most of his life there. He came from the family of a not very successful businessman, but for his talent and thanks to the support of the aristocracy and important city officials, he received a good education at the Simperofos high school and then at the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg. From the time of his studies, he attracted attention to his ability to create a convincing illusion of water element, airiness and light. Ayvazovsky was a prolific painter. He is said to have painted more than 6,000 paintings in his lifetime. He worked fast, alla prima and mostly by heart. Consulted with PhDr. Anna Janištinová, corresponds to the author's stay in Malta.
