From the opinion of PhDr. Anna Janištinová: "There is only a minimal amount of information about this author, almost everything that is known is contained in a brief note on the back of the album. He studied at the St. Petersburg Academy and two of his post-revolutionary, anti-Bolshevik political caricatures made by skilful academic drawing have been preserved. The offered painting has no artistic connection with them at all. On the contrary, it shows a radical shift to a modern form based on the strong expressiveness of character-reduced shapes, sharp local colors and loose pasty invoices. Undoubtedly, a quality painting can logically be considered a product of the late phase of the author's work. " The offered work comes from the important private collection of Boris Gribanov.

Verso inscription (in Cyrillic and partly in Latin): Sergei Vasilyevich Zivotovsky (1869 - 1936) / lived in SPB, with 1923 goda in New York / USA. Psevdonim Serge Pero (P. O. P-O) / figure signed by the border
