Panuška is considered to be the most original student of the famous Mařák school, who in his work combines the older realistic tradition with more modern impressionistic painting techniques. It significantly follows on from Antonín Chittussi, whose paintings often depicted ponds, wetlands and meadows. Jaroslav Panuška took care in portraying the beauty of nature and his scenery faithfully captures the moodiness of the Czech landscape, winter landscapes tend to have a mysterious touch.
