A summer scene filled with soft light showing a small girl in a field focusing on knitting, is one of the artist's early works from when he was a student of the Academy under Professor Franz Thiele. The style and the subject clearly hark to the teacher's influence and to Impressionism, especially the work of Max Liebermann. Oil on canvas, signed "M. Oppenheimer" on top right.
